Amish Story of Forgiveness

On October 2, 2006, a shooting occurred at the West Nickel Mines School, an Amish one-room schoolhouse in the Old Order Amish community of Nickel Mines, a village in Bart Township of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. The disturbed milkman shot ten girls (ages 6-13 years old), killing five, before taking his own life.

The Amish people experienced great anguish but no anger, hurt but no hate, and their forgiveness was immediate.

Archbishop Desmond Tutu on Forgiveness
